"Candy Land"
"Though a child may giggle for the taste of a land, the darker side is a much more mature ground of wanting to belong to something, the need to feel devoured by such a high can only propel you into a world. The motivation behind the song, was to bring you into the dark, create a poised mystery and a theatrical plank for my listeners to understand me by. The sweetness of lustful thinking and of an electric burgaid was only the start to what I found as a delightful bite into the unknown tapestries of our hearts."

BIOGRAPHY
Singer Songwriter SAMANTHA JAY, grew up in Northern California. At an early age she gravitated towards the stage, with past and present credits in the theater, dancing in main stage productions and recording in the studio, she's made her way into music videos, created her own projects and worked behind the scenes developing her style all to come into her own . It was just after graduating high school that Samantha Jay decided to make her way towards Los Angeles, California in search of more prospective on the artistic world and to test what strengths she really had in the competitive city. There she was introduced to execs at Interscope Records where she was scouted, from there the artist worked with other production teams within the industry all while trying to find her niche, her sound.

Guiding Light:
Music had always taken center stage in her life, and it really wasn't till her early twenties that she became more in tune with what she calls her 'sixth sense', the psyche she uses naturally to adapt when creating music and developing her songs. 'I've always been a writer, i used to write poetry and read them to my mother growing up, it was when I put two and two together, with my love for music and poetry that life all of a sudden made sense." the singer comments. Moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2007 was an even more shocking move for the artist, but as the universe had its plan, she trusted in it and decided to move away. "Believe it or not it was probably the best thing I did, I learned so much on this venture, I grew immensely and was able to really focus on music due to an easier less strenuous lifestyle. I could work part time and support myself and give more to my music career. " Samantha Jay never forgot about Los Angeles, this was just the beginning to reformation. It only took some time while working with a few people out in the dessert city, until she paired up with producer/recording artist Charlie Rivero, a very influential person who had been in the industry for years and who began to mentor and produce the singer. "He has a depth to him I can't describe, he's filled with talent and such passion, he made me push to be all that much more as a singer." Currently they both are working together, creating a buzz in Vegas and have other works in development for 2012.
New Light:
Her inspirations are highlighted by many past and present entertainers, some that have made her cry with their superior talents. She pays tribute to Michael Jackson her idol. "When I saw him, I remember feeling his genius soul, feeling something so powerful come through it can't be explained. The magnitude of artistry was sensational, it was moving, exhilarating and made me smile. That's what music means to me. Its the ability to bring to life that emotion, to have someone feel your sound and relate, to cause a real reaction. What has become tarnished is part of the industries connection to that, the seclusion of creative freedom and the mentality of authority and privilege over another artist's rights to create their vision." she comments "I want there to be aid for those seeking support from this frame of mind. Music equals art, art should be freedom to express. Of the many times I've been told how to do something just to fit in or why I should do this or that, I thank God I've stuck to my gut, because your instinct is never wrong. My belief is do what you do, and it will show form. "
Indie Equals Independence?
To her the dream is vast and open to many different ventures. With years in development, trial and error the singer finally feels at home with her creations. The introduction to her sound is a dark cry of emotional power, vocal range and inner strength from experiences that have made the singer tear while talking of those stories, the people along the way, the great indie artist, villains and saints both at her side. She has never forgot those who have believed in her, waiting patiently. And she will never forget those who've said that each and every door will be locked. She laughs. This year she wants to welcome her listeners to a theatrical, sensual, dark, rhythmic, loud and clear musical movement. Freedom to express, freedom to empower. Her music will TAKE you there.
Final Words:
"The motivation that has kept me going is knowing that persistence is a virtue, support is key and belief are all key components i feel comfort me from when the light is neither here nor there, but the fact that I have my creations, emotions and art in my head, well that's all you need to continue to climb and keep that light flicker." Recording artist, performer, songwriter Samantha Jay invites you in to listen, follow and enjoy what global connection we all share. The music.
